I'm always surprised by how much I end up loving books that involve zombies. I'm never surprised by how much I love books set around the time of the Civil War. Combining those two elements and throwing in a badass heroine made this one of those books that I would have read in one sitting if I hadn't been reading it out loud to a classroom full of juniors.
