I don't usually read books about sports, but I really enjoyed this look at what happens to football heroes when they can no longer play. The characters in this book felt like people I could run into in real life and their connections to each other were wonderfully written. I also like the various discussions around the idea of how adults treat teenagers who are athletes versus the ones who are involved in activities outside of sports.
sisilia I haven‘t read John Grisham for ages! I think the last one that I read (The Brethren) was 20 years ago 🙈 5y
JacintaMCarter @sisilia This is the first of his books I‘ve read. 5y
marleed I‘ve thrifted a full shelf on JG books because they are so readily available. M working my way through -trying to read at least one a month. I like most of them. There‘s a rhythm to them - almost there own genre. So I try to compare one against another rather than my books by other authors. 5y
BarbaraBB I thought he wrote only thrillers... 5y
