If it hadn‘t been for the #2018readharderchallenge I would have bailed on this one. Sometimes you can judge a book by its cover.

8little_paws Lol! Yes, that's hideous 6y

#TrueCrime is not one of my preferred genres, however needing to mark another task off of my #2018ReadHarderChallenge by @bookriot lead me to this one. Different than what I expected and disappointing that the author passed away before the killer was found. The statuate of limitations ran out and he couldn't be charged with all those horrific rapes. I'm returning to fiction since real life crime is too scary for me. Published #posthumously

Nimona, shape shifter and friend.
A graphic novel without boobs and a bikini clad heroine. Also my first audiobook, graphic novel. The soundtrack was fun, techy and really played up the pages. Bravo to the voice team for bringing the characters to life. #2018ReadHarderChallenge

While I usually swoon over a nice looking cowboy, #westerns are not my preferred genre. Selecting one for the #2018ReadHarderChallenge had me searching long and hard for my first taste, this one is an 2011 award winner. It hasn't won me over to picking up another western immediately. I am glad to have selected a stand alone title and a pleasant ending. P.S. don't cook bacon while reading about horse eyeballs being dug out with spoons. Gag!

jdenslow Cool choice! I read True Grit, and it was great. The teenage female narrator is so spunky and very memorable. 7y

Oh my goodness! This book was so so good! And just the perfect thing to read during a Nor‘easter!
Also counts for my book set in a BRICS Country (Russia) for @bookriot #2018readharderchallenge

I think I remember liking the movie? I‘m enjoying the book so far, so maybe the movie needs a rewatch.
