I am Albert Einstein
I am Albert Einstein | Brad Meltzer
9 posts | 11 read | 3 to read
We can all be heroes. Thats the inspiring message of this New York Times Bestselling picture book biography series from historian and author Brad Meltzer. Even when he was a kid, Albert Einstein did things his own way. He thought in pictures instead of words, and his special way of thinking helped him understand big ideas like the structure of music and why a compass always points north. Those ideas made him want to keep figuring out the secrets of the universe. Other people thought he was just a dreamer, but because of his curiosity, Einstein grew up to be one of the greatest scientists the world has ever known. What makes a hero? This lively, fun biography series by best-selling author Brad Meltzer answers the question, one great role model at a time.

Viviannef I have also chosen a book written by Brad Meltzer from a series called ordinary people change the world! This is a great book to also use in a science and history lesson! Great UDL principles and ESOL strategies. I love your idea of introducing other biographies; and great teacher resources 4y
DrSpalding The ordinary people change the world website is fantastic. The series of books is visually appealing and presents factual content about historical heroes in an engaging way. Add these picture book biographies to your classroom library. English learner strategy 28 is perfect. Be sure to add the numbers. Sidenote, his adult books are political thrillers and excellent. 4y

Be curious. Never stop asking why. Stay weird.
Even as a boy Albert was different, he didn‘t speak until he was 3. He kept to himself and his thoughts. Albert was a dreamer, he liked to ask ‘why‘ and figure out how things worked. People didn‘t always agree with his approach or understand his methods. He was weird...He went on to be one of the greatest physicists of our time. He changed the world.

The I am series is filled with great biographies of many important people in our history. These books by Brad Meltzer would be considered B or HF. GREAT BOOKS FOR AN IR. Allows students read about our past and who interests them. Super cute and fun way for kids to learn about our history. Great books to be included in any history lesson! #UCFLAE3414SP18

V.DeQuattro Great activities to correlate with the I am books! http://www.ordinarypeoplechangetheworld.com/activities.php 7y
V.DeQuattro UDL strategy to use is 3.1 and 4.1 allow students to share what they previously know about each character of the books. And allow them to respond to the information in their own ways. A good EL strategy would be 4 & 11. Use background knowledge and meaningful language. 7y

I am Albert Einstein is a children‘s biography book written by Brad Meltzer. I picked this book because many of the younger readers are not familiar with Albert Einstein and this book does a good job giving a little backstory about him that kids would enjoy. This is an activity the students can do after they read. http://www.survivingateacherssalary.com/i-am-albert-einstein-by-brad-meltzer-uni... #UCFWalterslit

This B book is about Albert Einstein and how he grew up and was different and more curious than other children. It does a great job of expressing to the reader to always be themselves and stay curious. This is most likely best as an IR. www.survivingateacherssalary.com/i-am-albert-einstein-by-brad-meltzer-unit-study-day-1/ provides activities about Einstein, including an inventors box! #UCFLAE3414F17

MorganH EL 28 “Provide biographies of significant men and women from different countries.” This book would be providing knowledge about a man who changed our world and theories of it. UDL 3.1 “Activate or supply background knowledge” (edited) 7y
MorganH The book even provides actual pictures of Einstein in the back, with a timeline of his life! 7y
EveAstrouck I love your activity especially the invention box idea! Great book I‘m going to have to get it for my classroom! 7y
