Man on Wire | 
pickOriginally titled “To Reach the Clouds,” this captivating memoir by Philippe Petit chronicles his quest to cross between the World Trade Center towers on a wire. I liked the eponymous documentary, but this book more fully captures Petit‘s lightning storm of a personality in soulful, suspenseful vignettes that are as dismissive of convention as they are reverent of what Petit calls “le coup.” The human spirit and raw courage shine brightly here.
