🌟🌟🌟🌟/5. Dean Koontz is one of my favorite horror authors. This one was his earlier work with no supernatural horror but still a great read.
This is one of Koontz's more underwhelming pieces. The plot had a lot of potential as the story started off with a bang but fizzled out and dragged on for the remainder of the book. There was neither much emotional connection with the protagonist nor suspense created by the antagonist.
If you're looking for a thriller you should take a pass on this for one of Koontz's better novels.
