Prompt: Dances With Wolves
The novel that was the inspiration for one of my favorite movies “Little Big Man” starring Dustin Hoffman. The book is so much better than the movie. And so different. Whoever wrote the screenplay wrote almost a completely different story. In the movie, the main character, Jack Crabb, was a comical character. Not in the novel. And the character experiences so much more. The novel is so different and better. I may never watch the movie again.
I really loved this book. It taught me how the indians in North America lived and the differences with the white men. It's not sugar coned, it tells you how it is. Raw and honest.
The movie was remarkably true to the book - liked the movie better
Whoa! I'm really glad I didn't bail on this! Though the production values of the audio were terrible, the narrators and the writing were great. I had my epiphany about this satire of The American Old West around 1/2 way through and was validated by McMurty's essay. #armchairaudies
TBH, I really don't get this kind of faux-Twain kind of satire; and the overall sound is Scott Sowers' section seem a bit noisy for an Audie finalist; but I'll keep going at least 1/3 of the way in before I decide whether or not 2 DNF #ArmchairAudies
Uploaded 'Little Big Man' (by Thomas Berger; narrated by David Aaron Baker, Scott Sowers, and Henry Strozier) to my iPhone; My next #ArmchairAudies listen!
