pickI remember watching this movie sometime in the 90s and being blown away. So when I saw this novella I scooped it up. It didn‘t disappoint, even though I knew what the “big reveal” would be at the end. So smart. So creepy. The movie is great because it uses color and costume to great effect, dressing the smug Victorians as insects and showing they aren‘t much different than creepy crawlies. So glad I found this.
Part 2 of #latestbookhaul. I had a Penguin Popular Classics edition of Agnes Grey that is now missing so I thought I deserved a new edition 😌 The Byatt book is so pretty and the synopsis says it's like Possession; Victorian stories about scholarly obsession and Darwinism, Spiritualism, insects, and doomed love.
