What happens when you try to do TOO MANY THINGS! I lost count of the amount of stories that either started in the middle, or were cut off before the ending, with a little tag saying: see this issue of this other comic!
I can deal with a run that involves an arc continuing over multiple issues but this was like the trunk of a tree with too many branches. It involves a dizzying array of different superheroes 1/?
If the basic idea - and it's not that basic! - that the Lazarus pits overflowed and created a bunch of situations is appealing there are certainly a number of threads to follow. I'm glad to see several of the main concerns introduced at the start of the book (and even that felt like I'd missed a few chapters) was resolved by the end, though it does make me personally 2d
I'll also happily admit that I lean towards the detective type stories in superhero comics, rather than the magic-based/fantastical ones, so the lore felt like a LOT in the face of my own info gaps around magic-based characters. I was curious about this one because of Mark Waid's involvement, 2d
That being said, of the many mini stories featured:
8 Seconds of Still Force makes me want to investigate further into the DC Pride character of Circuit Breaker.
Electric makes me want to start Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent - I'm familiar with that character, 2d
Similarly, The Envoy: A Spirit World story makes me think I MIGHT pick up Sprit World No 1, because it's starting at the beginning of a series, and I love the mix of Cassandra as Bat Girl with John Constantine and a new character, Xanthe Zhou, with supernatural senses and a very big sword. 2d
The Price of Eternity is by far the standout because I'm a big softie and it was heartwarming - with a talking bunny!
Runner up is Masks and Monsters, particularly for me, seeing the glow up for Renee Montoya, a beatcop I only previously knew from Batman the animated series, now commissioner with a secret superhero alter ego. 👏🏻 2d
