Veto, The Governor's Cat
Veto, The Governor's Cat | Nathan Deal
1 post | 1 read
Veto, The Governor's Cat is a tale of the experiences that many young children go through, written through the eyes of Veto, who is the real cat of Nathan Deal, the eighty-second Governor of Georgia. Through colorful characters, Veto discovers new friendships, the challenges of moving, overcoming fear and grief, self-discovery, and the importance of kindness and courage. A portion of the proceeds from Veto, The Governor's Cat will support literacy projects and other educational initiatives through the work of The Deal Foundation.

This book was gifted to me by one of my best friends and it is heartbreakingly beautiful. It deals with death in a way that would allow parents to explain it to children of all ages. After the loss of my own cat in 2014 and a terrible 2024 which included the loss of my own father, it was a welcomed read that brought me to tears halfway through. Grief never leaves us, but it helps to have resources and support along the journey.
