Kindle deal I grabbed this morning!
When I was in high school, an English teacher of mine suggested I read the short story “Cathedral” by Raymond Carver. Upon finishing it, I immediately went out and bought the whole collection and devoured it. His stories are dark and tense and unsettling and I loved every second of this book.
#80s @ValerieAndBooks Has been posting about Bright Lights ,Big City. I pulled some Vintage Contemporaries from the shelves. The earliest ones have the white wrap around. Found the Carver and the Brodkey at a church sale this weekend.Have read the Carver years ago but not the Brodkey.
I found it in Spanish, and it's my motivation to start reading again... I lost myself and Carver will make me come back!
A short story a day keeps the doctor away. Carver was truly a masterful storyteller.
What we're discussing in lit class today. I love this short story.
I love everything about Raymond Carver. I think that his blunt writing style is amazing. I just read his poem "After -Glow" during my poetry class and it made me miss his work. I want to read more of his work. I want to read more poems. I wish that I went to college when he was a guest lecturer at Syracuse University. I would be there every day.
Carver shakes the title of being a minimalist. The stories are all great, but the title story surpasses.
