I Shall Never Fall in Love | Hari Conner
5 posts | 3 read | 3 to read
'Packed with Austenian drama, heartache, scandal and yearning this is the trans Regency era romance Ive always wanted to read! Hari Conners characters are so lovable and the artwork, as always in Conners work, totally blew me away with its exquisite details, atmosphere, and emotion. I am obsessed with this book.' Alice Oseman A joyfully queer and stunningly romantic graphic novel inspired by the work of Jane Austen and perfect for fans of Heartstopper, Bloom and Lex Croucher. George has always been in love with their best friend, Eleanor and has always tried to ignore it. Now Eleanor is coming of age and expected to marry a suitable man, it doesnt matter how George feels they have to let her go. Besides, George is busy avoiding their aunts matchmaking, taking over the failing family estate, and trying to keep their dressing in mens clothes a secret. Eleanor has always wanted to do everything right, including falling in love but shes never met a boy shes interested in. Shes more concerned with finding the perfect match for her cousin Charlotte, and working out why George is suddenly pulling away. But Eleanors friendships seem to be falling apart, and shes beginning to realise that she likes George more than any man shes met at a ball With a swoon-worthy friends-to-lovers romance, I Shall Never Fall in Love shines a light on what it means to be true to yourself and rewrites the rules of Happily Ever After.

I need more from Hari Conner after reading this. First off, the art is fantastic. It is cute and immediately eye-catching, with an amazing use of color, but what truly stands out is the artist's use of expression. You can immediately tell what the characters are thinking and feeling, and so many panels I wanted to share with my friends due to relatability.⬇️

Nelnjali And, this wonderful art is paired with a thoughtful, heart-warming, and at times painfully emotional story that still has humor. The characters are also very layered and likeable, while not always making likeable choices, which is so realistic. 2w

The expressions on Charlotte in these panels made me snort. We've all had those two friends that we were clearly aware were flirting even if they aren't. 😅😅
