Day 7 of #PhotoaDayNov16: #CookbookLove! I don't cook. I don't bake. (Rare exceptions.) But I LOVE to ogle food and/or bribe others to make things from them. @becausetrains 👀 I'm a great taste tester. We love the beer recipes in the Homebrewers Guide & have made many w/rave reviews. The Mitsitam Cafe Cookbook features Native recipes from regions around the US, made for the National Museum of the American Indian. 🌶🍚🌽🍗🍺

BookishFeminist @DeborahSmall @Elephantango We haven't tried anything from the Irish Pub one yet! But we're planning to fix that this winter once it gets colder. 🙂 Everything looks so good in it! @Elephantango what have you tried to make from it? 8y
BookishFeminist @Serotonin Very yummy! 🍴 8y
Kimzey I received the Mitsitam Cafe Cookbook as a gift, but have not tried any recipes. Some of the ingredients appear to be hard to come by (fiddlehead ferns, tamarind pulp, hibiscus flowers), but it is definitely interesting to read and they do include a list of online suppliers. 😊 8y
BookishFeminist @Kimzey I agree, it can be difficult but the payoff is worth it if you can find the ingredients. I haven't made a lot of the things from it because of that issue but I like to stock up on ingredients when I visit Minnesota & sometimes have better luck with produce at farmers markets. I've had many of the dishes at the cafe though and they're AMAZING. It's my favorite cafe in DC. 8y
Elephantango I've made the pancakes, leek and potato soup (killer!) and beef and barley broth. 👍 8y
BookishFeminist @Elephantango All great options! I have the leek and potato soup flagged to try this winter for sure—it's one of my favorite soups and this looks like a great recipe for it! 8y
