Mehso-so

In Austin in 1987, 13 year old Deecie goes missing. In Maine in 2011, Bee, who grew up in the same neighborhood as Deecie, is struggling to adjust to life with a newborn. Unfortunately, the style of this book, where nearly every sentence is heavy with meaning, just made me irritated & impatient. Characters repeatedly stop each other from saying anything that might be meaningful. The revelations, when they finally arrive, are weirdly anticlimactic.

This is a debut novel about a girl gone missing. To me this book could have been so good. It had so much promise. But the author overdid some things. The descriptions were overdone.

There could have been more about the girl who actually went missing. More than what I read at the ending.
