Pickpick

This is a new interpretation of the well-known poem. It starts off with the original and then different authors added different stanzas (there is even one by a student). The illustrations fit beautifully to the stanzas. Definitely a nice book to introduce children to poems.

Pulvertocken fiel der Regen
und vor Kälte rann der Schweiss.
Leite streuten Salz auf Wegen,
denn der Teer war glühend heiss.

This is part of a funny and comical poem that is wiedly know in the German speaking countries, but is intranslatable.

swynn The contradictions remind me of an American folk song that goes, "It rained all night the day I left / The weather, it was dry / The sun so hot I froze to death / Susannah don't you cry" 1mo
MariaW @swynn Sounds a lot like it. Interesting that there is something like that in America as well. Is the author of this folk song known? 1mo
swynn Yes, the author is the 19th-century songwriter Stephen Foster, who wrote many songs that are still sung today. My favorite recording of "Oh Susannah" is by James Taylor: https://youtu.be/bdQSGjHOp7Y?si=Hjo9XfX7WWXaoQHh 1mo
