There seems to be a new romance subgenre... Actual Adult? I'm loving reading about people in middle age pursuing their dreams, working through their problems, and finding romance.

PuddleJumper I've noticed something similar in cosy mysteries. Lots of MCs in their 40/50s that are finding relationships and friendships etc. 3mo
Faranae That moment in Daniel Cabot where he realizes with horror that he's an adult now (and he's only late 20s) is great, but yeah nice to see a lot more 30s/40s/50s romances. Possibly because that's my age bracket. ☠ 3mo

Do Me A Favor is out now! I enjoyed the ARC a month ago. My previous response:

A cookbook ghost writer inherits a house on a Pacific Northwest island, where there just happens to be a most sexy single-dad handyman. Featuring an endearing dog who brings them together, goats interrupting romantictimes, lots of food, and following your dreams.

Lauredhel (cont) I particularly liked that the book didn't follow a typical 3rd-act breakup formula, that they're both in their forties, that they were both going through career issues and direction changes, that the kids (young adults) seemed kinda like real people, and that there wasn't any silly-misunderstanding subplot.

And they both have just a bit of baggage from the past that isn't super horrible trauma, but that they need to grow through (and do) 4mo

I'm on Noongar country, so it's Makuru here, not summer. It's been Makuru for about a couple weeks already - the rainy, cool season where the blue and purple flowers bloom, and the wardong (ravens) pair up and the mali (black swans) prep their nests. Perfect reading weather! So yes, I've started, as your Northern seasons mean nothing here.
