Another great read from this author. A man is thinking about retiring so he reflects on his life and mauls over the possible futures. Nice slice of life story.

I find that I love to settle into a Nathan Joella stories as they give me feels not unlike the little Richard Paul Evans Christmas stories. I didn‘t immediately connect with Jack but knew not to worry because before long I was caught up in his world.

My first experience with this author, I enjoyed this one about a very delayed sort of coming of age. At 52, Jack is considering selling the restaurant his grandmother started years before on the Delaware seashore. It was never his passion and lately he‘s wallowed in how alone he is. Exploring his past relationships while developing the found family he truly has makes this an engaging & emotional read— despite Jack‘s frustrating behavior at times!

Jack owns a restaurant named Schmidt‘s on Rehoboth Beach. The restaurant has been in his family for 3 generations. However, the day-to-day operations of the restaurant have worn him down. With stress piling up, Jack longs to see what life has to offer when he is not tied down to his workplace.
