It’s 1866 and spending the summer in Italy feels like a dream come true for Elfie. But sometimes, when dreams turn into nightmares, it’s better if they had never come true. This third season is chock full of unexpected twists and turns. Elfie and Angus meet a group of cheerful young traveling journeymen and thoroughly enjoy their time in Naples; Angus realizes that when Elfie gains her freedom, he will lose his own; Elfie learns to sing Italian songs that soon become part of her repertoire. She takes Rossini’s joie de vivre to heart, but ultimately gets burned for embracing life’s experiences a little too enthusiastically.
