Eating for England: The Delights and Eccentricities of the British at Table | Nigel Slater
5 posts | 3 read | 7 to read
Like Nigel Slaters multi-award-winning food memoir Toast, this is a celebration of the glory, humour, eccentricities and embarrassments that are the British at Table.

I had a really good #24b4Monday day yesterday. I really feel like I might hit 24 hours this time! I finished Eating For England (my #lmpbc book for this month), and made a dent in the never ending Grapes of Wrath audiobook. Next up is finishing Wicked, and some more Wrath. Happy reading everyone!

Andrew65 That‘s a great first day total, well done.👏👏👏 5y

Pickpick

A delightful book, perfect for reading at ones leisure, about every British food and food-related thing you could think of. It only makes me sad (and hungry!) to think that I may never taste most of them, living in the States.
Also, this is Book 5/5 for the#boutofbooks17 Readathon! Only 5 GNs to go before I make my goal!

MrBook Great review 😎👏🏻👍🏻 8y
Texreader We pop into the English pub every now and then and get a taste of England here deep in the heart of Texas. I've also made a recipe here and there. So I highly recommend bringing England to you! (Besides I went to England years ago and stayed above a real pub. I gained 10 pounds in one week. Seriously. But I loved every ounce I ate.) 8y
LauraBrook @MrBook Thank you, kind sir! @Texreader So envious you've got a pub near you! We used to have a tea shop in the late 90s and my friends and still still talk with nostalgia (and drooling mouths) about how great it was. I'd be okay with 10 extra pounds of I could eat this wonderful food! I'm hoping I'll be able to get to England at some point in my life, since I've dreamed of it for as long as I can remember. 8y
Texreader @LauraBrook I loved England and we plan to go back. It helps my father in law lives in Reading and he put us up in the pub. But he's Norwegian and when we travel overseas we all go to Norway to see the rest of the family. England is low on the list but I can't wait to go back someday. 🙁 8y
