⭐️⭐️

This book had multiple flaws, one of them being that it is incredibly repetitive (we get what Clara‘s goal in life is, we don‘t need to be reminded every chapter) and the obscene amount of times that the author mentioned Clara‘s scoliosis was annoying and frustrating. The romance felt forced and its progression was choppy. I wasn‘t a huge fan of the ending and how Clara is completely oblivious at times.

Avanders What a beautiful cover though… 11mo

Pickpick

This YA fantasy was a spin on various dark folklore stories from the Brothers Grimm. It was centered around the Forest Grimm, a magical forest that turned malevolent when a murder was committed in the neighboring village. The Book of Fortunes, which provided one wish to each 16-year-old, disappeared and so did various town members when they ventured into the forest to find the book that would save their desolate community. Clara, a 17-year-old ⬇️

robinb girl, is determined to enter the forest and rescue her mother who is among the missing. Along with her friend Axel (whose fiancé is also missing), they face mysterious creatures, a malicious forest and the desperation of finding the book that could return their loved ones (and save their souls) along with their town‘s future. I really enjoyed this book…terrific world-building, cheer-worthy characters, a sweet bit of romance and a bittersweet ⬇️ 1y
robinb but hopeful ending. Very well done.
