I like a book with a playlist — and this one has a watchlist! I enjoyed this critical (yet loving) study of the “trancestry” of tv/film. It‘s also validating to see cinematic representations of people I care about IRL. More, please.

My year in nonfic reading continues to not fail. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trans non-binary entertainment journalist Tre‘vell Anderson looks at black trans visibility in tv and movies, chronicling depictions from fabulous to not so great. And, as it should be, Laverne Cox gets her own chapter. I really enjoyed this—I thought it might be fluffy, but it‘s solid reporting with a sense of humor included.
Soubhi, thank you so much for an amazing birthday book haul! I am SO excited about all of these! And I love the model set. It looks super cute and fun to put together! This is really lovely, you‘ve made my day. ☺️
