I have two recommendations for #HauntedShelf

1) Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane
2) The Daughters of Block Island by Christa Garmen

I don‘t want to spoil anything but they are both dark and stormy trapped on an island reads, and perfect for when you want something atmospheric to get lost in.

This started slowly, but picked up in part 2. It was a great ode to creepy gothic novels with the extra spooky setting of a mansion in Block Island, RI during the off season.

Spooky tale of gothic ghosts, long lost sisters, and all-too-human predators haunting a Rhode Island B & B in winter. Read it for Women in Horror month, but thriller fans who don‘t mind a ghost in a secret passageway will love it too. Vivid setting & “meta” style commentary on gothic lit tropes are used well. #gothic #spooky #sisters

It‘s weird to say ‘fun‘ and ‘murder‘ in the same sentence…but this was a fun little murder mystery. A bit of satire on the idea of a gothic novel
