A Most Anticipated Book by BookRiot ? Culturess ? and more! A starry-eyed romantic, a cynical writer, and (the ashes of) an elderly woman take the road trip of a lifetime that just might upend everything they believe about true love. Millicent Watts-Cohen is on a mission. When she promised her elderly best friend that shed reunite her with the woman she fell in love with nearly eighty years ago, she never imagined that would mean traveling from D.C. to Key West with three tablespoons of Mrs. Nashs remains in her backpack. But Millies determined to give her friend a symbolic happily-ever-after, before its (really) too lateand hopefully reassure herself of loves lasting power in the process. She just didnt expect to have a living travel companion. After a computer glitch grounds flights, Millie is forced to catch a ride with Hollis Hollenbeck, an also-stranded acquaintance from her exs MFA program. Hollis certainly does not believe in happily-ever-afterssymbolic or otherwiseand makes it quite clear that he cant fathom Millies plan ending well for anyone. But as they contend with peculiar bed-and-breakfasts, unusual small-town festivals, and deer with a death wish, Millie begins to suspect that her reluctant travel partner might enjoy her company more than he lets on. Because for someone who supposedly doesnt share her views on romance, Hollis sure is becoming invested in the success of their journey. And the closer they get to their destination, the more Millie has to admit that maybe this trip isnt just about Mrs. Nashs love story after allmaybe its also about her own.

#ReadAway2024 I‘m not usually a romance reader but I really enjoyed this sweet story with parallel romances. It was a little, okay a lot, more spicy than I expected, but that‘s not a complaint. Romance for the sake of romance is boring. But this romance had a plot. Recommended.

This book is a very touching book that deals with loss, love, and healing. The narrator is on a journey of self-discovery and reconciliation while she is trying to cope with the memory of Mrs. Nash - a character from her past. Sarah Adler's writing was full of emotion and angst, expertly capturing the complications of melancholy and the power of human connections....

⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a cute and light summer romcom, but for some reason I wasn‘t fully invested in the characters - I think maybe the relationship felt a bit rushed and contrived. 🎧

Modern take on "It Happened One Night"

Milli is on her way to Florida to bring part of her landlady's ashes to someone in hospice.

Hollis needs inspiration for his next novel and a week in Florida with his friend with benefits might help unblock his brain.

Flights are cancelled and they go on a road trip where Milli shares the story of Mrs Nash' Ashes and Hollis' ice encrusted heart might warm towards one specific pigeon.

CarolynM It Happened One Night is one of my all time favourite films. Stacking this, obviously 😊 1y

This is the third book I‘ve read in a row with a love interest who has heterochromia…. Isn‘t it weird and fun when that happens?
I did a HUGE book haul last week (also got my new locally made super cute orange bag) and have been plowing thru so many good ones during my long weekend. I never want to go back to work 😆
