An endearing book about how a bookstore brought people together during Covid in England, but it‘s quite sad at times. I loved the Book Pharmacy, what a fantastic idea!! Easy to read and beautifully written. I love my books and enjoyed reading about others who also love reading. I didn‘t realize this was a sequel and didn‘t feel like I missed anything in not reading the first book. Book #37 in 2024

This month‘s #bookspin is a proper lockdown book. The first I read and I don‘t know how to feel about it. I like the idea - in lockdown, people can mail in with their problems/situation and the bookshop „prescribes“ them some books. But there were too many character so the storylines stayed on the surface. And those who went deeper seemed too extreme. Also some of the backstories weren‘t resolved? ⬇️

yourfavouritemixtape Just found out that this is actually a sequel… which somehow explains the not-resolved backstory. And also the fact that it could have done with a bit more editing. 1y

Beautiful but heartbreaking. Depending on your COVID experiences you may not be ready to read this just yet. It's setting is UK during Lockdown. People dealing with life in the Pandemic. And there are deaths. ⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig But then there is Loveday from The Lost For Words Book Shop trying to figure out how to keep her store afloat. She comes up with Book Prescriptions. Do you need books to help you escape, or sleep, or heal a broken heart? Loveday and her team will find you just the right book. It definitely a book for book lovers. 2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig And to that Goodreads Reviewer who gave it 2 stars just because it included a Lesbian couple. 🖕🙄🖕 2y

I‘m spending the long weekend with Coopy and the last little bit of this lovely impulse buy. It‘s the first proper pandemic novel I‘ve read, and it‘s a really affecting look at how a wide spectrum of York residents make it through lockdown, with books (and the shop that provides them) not as a cure-all but a powerful helper in hard times. Highly recommended to anyone who likes mosaic novels with a strong core.
