I'm not sure whether what I really want is for this novella to have been longer, or to know it's the start of a series. There is a mystery that is solved, there is a sprinkling of character development; I don't necessarily think that any steps to get to certain conclusions were skipped, maybe just a little rushed. 1/?

Robotswithpersonality 2/? I want more of Scorn's relationships, with zir parental figures, zir brother, zir love interest, I want more of zir journalistic development, zir interactions with humans and zir quandaries around how ze is being perceived. The world building: I want more about how the Earth got to the state it is, what's going to happen next with the moon, how Scorn interacts with other artificials and that whole Aura rating and black box data 4mo
Robotswithpersonality 3/3 communication surfing, it was so cool and such a small part of the story! So, yeah, I did enjoy what was there, but my love is hampered by my hunger for MORE! 4mo

3.5/5

An AI wakes up missing 10 days of memory and must retrace zir steps to figure out what happened. Scorn is a freelance journalist actively seeking out the truth even if it puts zir very existence at risk.

I can see how the comparison is made to Murderbot as both are AIs that don't desire to be human and defy their intended purpose, but this is a very different story, and Scorn is a very different protagonist. I enjoy both in their own way.
