It's Not That Radical
It's Not That Radical: Climate Action to Transform Our World | Mikaela Loach
2 posts | 1 read | 2 to read
For too long, representations of climate action in the mainstream media have been white-washed, green-washed and diluted to be made compatible with capitalism. We are living in an economic system which pursues profit above all else; harmful, oppressive systems that heavily contribute to the climate crisis, and environmental consequences that have been toned down to the masses. Tackling the climate crisis requires us to visit the roots of poverty, capitalist exploitation, police brutality and legal injustice. Climate justice offers the real possibility of huge leaps towards racial equality and collective liberation as it aims to dismantle the very foundations of these issues. In this book, Mikaela Loach offers a fresh and radical perspective for real climate action that could drastically change the world as we know it for the benefit of us all. Written with candour and hope, It's Not That Radical will galvanise readers to take action, offering an accessible and transformative appraisal of our circumstances to help mobilise a majority for the future of our planet.

It's the fossil-fuel companies that have created this mess, funded climate denial and murdered activists on the front lines.
It's every government that has acted in the interests of these multi-billion dollar companies, rather than for the people. It's the super-rich; the billionaires; the one hundred companies. It's overconsumption, capitalism and white supremacy.

JanuarieTimewalker13 Yup. I‘m lucky bc my electric company allows me to choose wind power. I hope it makes a difference. Can I ask you a quick question? Are you Wiccan? I don‘t know much about it, but I‘m interested. Also, are most Wiccans Vegans? 1y
Cazxxx @JanuarieTimewalker13 That is great I wish that my electric company would let me choose wind power. I‘m a witch not Wiccan which is more of a religion. I‘d imagine most witches are vegan because the love of all life is central to the practice 😊 1y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Oh I‘m loving that!! Thank you🌸 oooh, I never realized that. What should I read that will give me a better idea about being a witch? 1y

Cazxxx @JanuarieTimewalker13 Ooh there are so many good beginner books I‘d have to think about it cos there are a lot! The more reading and learning you do the better cos it does take time 1y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Any good fiction stories that approximate what it‘s like being a witch? I need a good story!! I‘ve already read A Discovery of Witches (that‘s where I got my screen name) but I‘d like another 1y
JanuarieTimewalker13 I just caught the part of your post where the fossil fuel companies funded climate denial….horrible!! I‘m stacking this one also 1y
Cazxxx @JanuarieTimewalker13 I‘ve read hundreds, some of my favs are The manningtree witches, the age of witches, the once and future witches, the mercies, the witches of vardo, Weyward, now she is witch. Can‘t think of any which describe daily witch life in fiction. Better with non fiction for that 1y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Thank you!! I already have Weyward on my TBR. I‘m going to look into the others!! 1y
Cazxxx @JanuarieTimewalker13 Ooh Weyward is one of my favourite books this year, hope you enjoy! 1y
