Finally getting my #NonFictionNovember on. I love Ancient Egypt so I‘m hoping this is a readable narrative account of a couple thousand years of history.

I was hoping this'd be a pretty fun read because I've seen how Fletcher is as a host for documentaries, but apparently that charisma doesn't translate onto the page, because this is a really dry book. There were places where it felt like I was reading one of those Biblical "begats" lists, and not in a good way. Which is too bad, because I really wanted to like this book :|.
I've been interested in ancient Egypt since I was young enough to read on my own. I've read books that focus on specific subjects or personages (my favorite is The Woman Who Would Be King by Kara Cooney), but this is the first broad overview that I'll be reading as an adult. Also helps that I've seen Fletcher on TV and know what her narrative style is like more or less. Looking forward to kicking off 2017 with this :D.
While everyone is setting their clocks back one hour, I'm going to set mine back about 5000 years
