This book is giving me mild anxiety, but I need to know where Dolan is going with this…

Even though I bailed on Exciting Times earlier this year, I still wanted to give Dolan another try…Let‘s hope this one is a better fit!

Dolan‘s prose is observant and insightful, with an emphasis on the nuance of human conversation. The writer is brave in her interweaving of of themes of desire, social class, and vitality in The Happy Couple, in a way that invites observation of convention and wanting the best outcome for its characters.....

I appreciate a novel with clear sentences and dry humor. Dolan did a great job distinguishing each character and detailing their quirks. They also each got to be flawed without one of them being The Ultimate Villain. Good view into a specific batch of humans and their tangled relationships. #literaryfiction #contemporaryfiction

A soft pick and an easy read. An engaged couple each try and decide if they should actually get married as their wedding date looms.
