This tale begins in the deep, and deeply magical, European forest, in the world depicted in Chagall's paintings and Grimm's fairy tales, and proceeds to tell the story of four generations of women from one fated family.

#readjanuary #bookspublishedinthe2000s so these two are what I've read from the women's prize for fiction archive of the year 2000. I loved both of these. If I told you once is perfect if you want a dark Eastern European folktales style story. I remember it being very atmospheric, dealing with immigration and the stories that people bring with them.
