Romeo and Juliet meets Children of the Corn in this one-of-a-kind romantic horror "When you fall in love, you will carve out your heart and throw it into the deepest ocean. You will be all in--blood and salt." These are the last words Ash Larkin hears before her mother returns to the spiritual commune she escaped long ago. But when Ash follows her to Quivira, Kansas, something sinister and ancient waits among the rustling cornstalks of this village lost to time. Ash is plagued by memories of her ancestor, Katia, which harken back to the town's history of unrequited love and murder, alchemy and immortality. Charming traditions soon give way to a string of gruesome deaths, and Ash feels drawn to Dane, a forbidden boy with secrets of his own. As the community prepares for a ceremony five hundred years in the making, Ash must fight not only to save her mother, but herself--and discover the truth about Quivira before it's too late. Before she's all in--blood and salt.

Not a favorite for me. I couldn‘t connect to any of the characters, the romance felt really forced, and the supernatural element ruined a promising cult story.

Take some forbidden romance, a set of fraternal twins, one of which sees dead people or one dead person, a creepy cornfield in Kansas, a little bit of alchemy, and a bit of sketchy immortality mixed with one weird little “town“ where everyone thinks they are living in some kind of utopia and that is Blood and Salt in a nutshell.

Finished this spooky YA read last night for #screamathon. A girl returns to the cult where her mother grew up in search of her mother and answers to all of the supernatural things that keep happening to her. It was a little predictable and trope-y at times, but still had the spooky vibe I was looking for!

This was also my read for the #spookyread prompt for this season‘s #booked2018!

Cinfhen Yay!!! Knocking off a prompt early on 6y

Great story that sucks you in, but just a warning, the writing is iffy at times. Also, cw for gore.

This novel is pitched as "Romeo and Juliet meets Children of the Corn." I love this book, and I kind of hate Romeo and Juliet, so I'm going to encourage you to #ReadThisNotThat. #MayBookFlowers

Yet another one of my currents I finished this morning. This one is #LetterB in my #LitsyAtoZChallenge and it was SO good!!! As if falling in love isn't intense enough, please add impending doom and dead people and crazy secrets... I swear you will love it!

This was billed to me as Romeo and Juliet meets Children of the Corn. I was on vacation in a rainforest in Bali, and couldn't stop reading
