A bit slow to start but really enjoyed it in the end. Liked all the different voices we heard from.

This is a wonderful piece of historical fiction based on fact. It‘s beautifully written in a very evocative and descriptive manner, even operatic in some ways. The story rattles along at a fair rate. The characters have distinctive voices. It‘s really quite the page turner and very much a thriller. A powerful, moving and worthwhile read and I look forward to reading book two, The Ghosts of Rome. #Pigeonhole
I possibly read too much WWII historical fiction. This one dragged in bits and I only cared about some of the characters.

My Fathers House begins in 1943 Rome is occupied by German forces. A literary thriller based on the true story of an Irish priest Monsignor Hugh OFlaherty. I read this for Bookclub , I anticipate a heated discussion.
Weyward. An entertaining read of three women who‘s lives are connected over centuries Witchy
Celia Fremlin Another domestic noir that had me freaked out and also laughing
Rehearsal. Bailed ! Couldn‘t figure it out.
I thought this was excellent. Full of tension and intrigue. Highly recommend for historical fiction readers. It‘s the first of a trilogy and I eagerly look forward to the next one. ⛪️
