Loved it
Oh my goodness- such a fabulous read!
This was one of my #BookSpin books for June! I listened to this on audio and it was just okay for me. I'm not a poetry reader so I sometimes struggle with them. The flowery language mixed with contemporary conversations between the girls threw me off a bit!
5 ⭐️! This is written as a play & takes place in the trap room with all of Shakespeare‘s teen girls who met their tragic downfall. They each tell their own story in a creative and engaging format (written in verse). This book covers feministic themes and was such a fun one to read. I‘m not overly familiar with Shakespeare or a fan, and still loved this book!
This was an interesting short listen. It‘s not so much a retelling as an exploration of how some of the girls in Shakespeare‘s stories might see themselves and wish to change their stories. It focuses mainly on Juliet, Ophelia, and Cordelia.
Audio duration: 4 hours 22 minutes
*I received this audiobook through the Libro.fm Educator #ALC program.

This one is hard to review because I tried reading it and it just wasn't very good. I dnf'd it. There was no connection with the characters, nothing was making me want to read any more of it. But, I started thinking about it and realized it might be better as an audiobook. The audiobook was so much better. The performance helped it come alive. The narrators really gave the characters more personality, making it easier to connect with them. ⬇️
