Busy Monsters: A Novel
Busy Monsters: A Novel | William Giraldi

“The best literary present . . . has a delicate sweetness that shows through at just the right moments.”—Ron Charles, Washington Post Book World Echoing a narrative line that includes Kurt Vonnegut and Joseph Heller, William Giraldi’s Busy Monsters has been hailed as one of the most exciting fiction debuts in years. Penned with a linguistic bravado that explores the diaphanous line between fiction and fact, this “very funny, very inventive début novel” (The New Yorker) has at last revived the great American picaresque tradition.

knittedgnome I love Indy too! We go at least once a year for a convention my hubby goes to. I was surprised what a cool town it is. Looking forward to visiting again next weekend. 7y
leahrosereads @knittedgnome Gen Con?? My husband and I go every year and it's why I fell in love with that city. 😀 7y
knittedgnome Actually the first time we went to Indy was for Gen con but I was so busy we barely left the convention center. We always go for circle city con, and information security conference. The son and hubby are busy so I get to explore. 7y
leahrosereads @knittedgnome Ooo, I've heard that's a great con, but we've never madede it out for it yet. Hopefully one year, we'll get to go. 7y
knittedgnome They both really enjoy it! I'm not computer minded so I don't attend. We live in MI so it's not too bad of a drive 7y

Mehso-so

finished Busy Monsters as a little break between a couple dark, brooding mysteries I've been binging on lately. it's funny, definitely worth the quick read, but ultimately forgettable.
