I'll Take Forever
I'll Take Forever | Barbara McMahon
3 posts | 1 read
Prolific bestselling author Barbara McMahon has won almost every major award in romance, and it's easy to see why: her stories are heartwarming and emotional journeys that make you remember what it's like to fall in love. In I'LL TAKE FOREVER, When Jenny Warwick is asked to provide cover for a DEA agent so he can infiltrate the small town where she lives, she reluctantly agrees, unable to believe any of her neighbors would be involved with drugs. Before long everyone in town thinks theres a romance blooming between her and the new man in town. Kyle is not looking for romance, especially the forever kind. Yet he plays the devoted suitor so well, only Jenny knows its part of Kyles cover. Or is it?

Panpan

It's been quite a while since I've rated a book as a pan, but this one was pretty bad haha Although I will admit that I softened to it a little when I found out it was published in 1988, making some of the themes a little more palatable. A lot has changed in 30+ years! However, that doesn't stop this one from being basically unbelievable, with a federal agent staying with a civilian as a cover story so he can find out who/where illegal marijuana ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) is being growing in the area. There were multiple instances where Kyle assumes that Jenny is going to do his cooking/cleaning/laundry as well that I just found super distasteful - I do the cooking/cleaning/laundry in our household, but I'm in a committed relationship with a husband who does his part to keep our household running smoothly as well, unlike Kyle who is basically just mooching around. Jenny was borderline stupid. She's also ⬇ 3y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) a widow at age 25 because her husband died in a car wreck a year earlier - but don't worry, we're told repeatedly that Jenny is “over“ her husband's death/he's part of her past/she doesn't really feel sad about it any more. After a year?? I wasn't expecting her to be in some kind of deep depression, but her attitude towards her dead husband (we're reassured he was awesome and they had an awesome life) did not feel very realistic. I'm not⬇ 3y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) exactly sure why she needed to be a widow anyway. Finally, I get that marijuana was viewed differently in the 80s, but I do know people who use it recreationally and it has not led them to try “hard“ drugs and none of them have died. The sentence “I've met old alcoholics but never old drug users“ really just... I don't even know where to start with that, other than to say I do know some old marijuana smokers 😂 ANYWAY this book was ⬇ 3y

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) super short so I skimmed through to the end. Another old Kindle book that may not have been worth the free price I paid for it!!

TheAromaofBooks @Andrew65 @Clwojick - The problem is I get just enough good ones to keep me adding more to my collection! 😂 3y
Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks who can say no to free books! @Clwojick 3y
TheLudicReader I ❤️ this review. Marijuana as the reason for an undercover sting is the best. 3y

#WeeklyForecast - So the windowsill doesn't look dramatically different from last week! I did finish The Toll last night, and you can see that I scratched off two ebooks last week. I'm hoping to spend some time reading some fluffy books this week because I'm going to be very busy and I spent most of last week finishing the Arc of a Scythe series, which was rather intense - I'm ready for a break!! Started the tagged ebook last night which has ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) been (unread) on my Kindle since 2016, so we will see how that goes - I've only read the first few pages. My chapter-a-day books (not pictured) always take up more time at the beginning of the month until I start finishing them. Both #PemberLitten reads are winding down and I'm almost finished with my current nonfiction read as well. It's been cold and rainy all week, but next week is looking warmer (although still rainy lol). Ready for ⬇ 3y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) some spring vibes!!! Planning to go on a day trip with my parents/sister/husband on Friday including an antique store that Mom is always telling me has an awesome book booth, so we will see if I find anything good!!! @Cinfhen 3y
Prairiegirl_reading I‘m ready for spring too!! We‘ve had so much snow this year and we are in for another storm. It won‘t be good for our flood situation. 😞 3y

Bookzombie Every time I see Cinder on your windowsill, I tell myself I need to finish the last book in the series. Then I start to think should I reread the other three first. 🤔 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Prairiegirl_reading - Hopefully the weather calms down soon!! While things have been rainy/gloomy here, it hasn't been dumping rain every day, so we aren't in a flood situation yet. Supposed to be more storms today, though! 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Bookzombie - I am trying to finish one more series before I pick up Cinder and start another! Somehow I've found myself in the middle of way too many 😂 3y
