⭐️⭐️⭐️ The science and business of soccer worldwide with a large focus on European clubs. I grabbed this recent #Audible sale since my boys are little soccer babies. I‘m not super familiar with professional soccer, but this was an interesting study gauging why teams win or lose, and various other scenarios. It‘s not as simple as it sounds. Details such as a country‘s GDP, population; penalty kicks, especially shootouts, and so on. A niche read.

britt_brooke Not one I think you‘d care anything about @Cinfhen 😂 3y
SqueakyChu I‘d be interested in reading this. I‘ve become quite the avid soccer fan over the years. 3y
britt_brooke @SqueakyChu It‘s a few years outdated, but I‘m willing to bet many of same observations still apply. Hope you enjoy when you get to it! 3y

SqueakyChu @britt_brooke Thanks! I‘m sure I‘ll find some things to like about it. I actually am seeing how soccer is growing in the U.S. I‘ve been watching this growth over the past forty years, but only recently have some American soccer players been taken seriously. I grew to love soccer when my husband used to be a soccer coach many years ago, but I love it now so much because it‘s a sport that is played worldwide among people of all races and cultures 3y
SqueakyChu @britt_brooke ...I think that‘s what I like about it the most. 3y
britt_brooke @SqueakyChu It really is an interesting sport! My oldest has been playing travel soccer for a couple of tears and we‘ve learned a ton. It‘s really fun now, too, that we have a local MLS team to follow (Nashville SC). 3y
SqueakyChu It‘s great you have your MLS Nashville SC team now! I live in the DC area and am a diehard DC United fan. I hate to miss any of their games and used to attend some pre-pandemic. 3y
Cinfhen You got that right xxxx 3y
Cinfhen But I still love being tagged in your reviews 💚 3y

Pickpick

The English version of Soccernomics, this book uses statistical analysis to examine football and explain why England lose, which countries are the biggest overachievers and underachievers, which countries are destined to be future champions of the sport, and much more!
My problem is that the data in this book is over 10 years old now, and many things have changed (e.g. Spain‘s 6 years of dominance), so an updated version would be better. 👍⚽️💕

Hoping that England wins their semi-final today (and throws these statisticians for a loop)!!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🦁⚽️

LoveToReadLiveToRead My hubby was watching this and I got sucked in. Hope your hubby isn‘t too upset! (edited) 7y
That-Bookish-Hiker @LoveToReadLiveToRead he was pretty upset with that last goal that went through. There may have been some cussing towards the Liverpool goalie lol. 7y
LoveToReadLiveToRead @That-Bookish-Hiker haha, yes, he got called a few names here too! 7y

For #funFridayphoto (or #funphotoFriday maybe?), a little bit of my soccer love! This is a pretty good read, and even if the author may not be 100% accurate in his theories, it's still a fun subject if you're at all interested in footie, especially in a global context. That is a soccer ball coin bank and I hadn't tried to move it for a couple years and damn, it's heavy. Hopefully that means I'll be rich when it's filled all the way 😁⚽️
