As I finish one book I‘m usually so certain what I‘m in the mood for next… but feeling indecisive tonight ! Do I go for fictionalised historical fiction, longlisted Womens Prize title, obscure history with a feminist twist, a book with a stunning cover and lots of promise or a Book Riot True Crime recommended title! Arrgghhh…… I too much good stuff!
They walk for half a day to the new seawall. They buy fish from a man at one end, char cook it on an open fire, eat it in grubby fingers as they walk, then toss the bones to the waves and run to the middle of the long causeway. Their faces are bright with pure happiness. The sea birds extend their reach, express their wild, twinned joy up to the heavens and all the way to the never near horizon.
Got sidetracked by Covid but now getting back into this.
You know that feeling like you have read an entirely different book then everyone else? I kept wondering if the digital copy was corrupted or something so many sentences made absolutely no sense and I had to read them over and over.
Beyond the rereading it was a quick read but honestly most of the time I had zero idea what was going on while also completely knowing exactly where the story was going.

I was not even sure I wanted to read this; it is dichotomy to get hold of and I‘m not keen on dystopian fiction. However, it appeared on Litsy so I gave it a go.
It‘s not an easy read, being set in an eerily realistic post-pandemic future so for that reason I can‘t say it‘s one of my ‘favourites‘ off the list. However, it‘s beautifully written and scarily unputdownable so I think it may progress onto the shortlist.
Still struggling through Women's Prize Long list Salt Lick I have heard it picked up in the 2nd half, let's hope b/c it is a drag. Hoping to quickly move on to another WPFF long list Popisho which had been on my TBR so excited for that. Damnation Spring I grabbed on audio so will finish that this week. The other 2 seem to be quick reads to finish the week strong.
I am reading way more then my monthly avg this month!!

Cooking is now a ritualised hobby for a few enthusiasts who come to the market to shop at the spice stall and the greengrocer on their afternoons off. Like most people, she orders her food at the beginning of the week from a menu - Ten Economy Meals for two, Whole Week Healthy Lunchtime packs, Comfort Food, Nearly Raw, Vegan starters.

I finished Bluebird, Bluebird this am so not really counting it, I am moving on to speed through Devil In A Blue Dress which is due back at the library, Damnation Springs which I picked up on audio, and trudging my way through Salt Lick, which honestly I am not sure I am going to make it. It is a Women's Prize longlist and I am struggling with it.
My friends are running late.
Oh the hardship...
This arrived quickly...
