4🌟I read this book in a day! I enjoyed the story, and Joséphine's character and the exploration of duality. Rouf wonderfuly offers the reader a look into this womans two sided life. Showing how the one side gives her things the other side never could. At thought provoking read! #bookreview #translatedlit

We read this for book club last month and it was a fantastic discussion! A 30 something year old high school philosophy teacher in France begins a double life as a stripper. Lots of body-positivity and female empowerment. Really enjoyed this one!

This is a translated book about a High School philosophy teacher in France who gets a job moonlighting as an exotic dancer. It is engaging and body-positive. It shows how dancing can boost self-esteem and strengthen relationships with other women. It also illustrates the drudgery and unfairness sometimes associated with teaching positions. I got a lot out of it, even if I found it depressing at times.
