Carried Away On the Crest of a Wave is a play written in memory of those who unfortunately passed away during the deadliest tsunami ever recorded: the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami that killed over 250k individuals across 46 different countries. This play consists of a series of nine stories that come together as a complementary ensemble. These stories are from people across the world who experienced different events on the day of the tsunami.
grace.hartman Some stories were based on individuals who survived after the storm, while others were from across the world watching the event unfold on television and how they reacted to it. These nine stories, although not all about those who endured the tsunami, connect to each other in some way, which highlights the theme of this play. The theme present is a theme of hope and connection. A hope that there is calm after the storm and the idea that we are 3y
grace.hartman never alone. It represents how the world is smaller than we may think, and how a disastrous event in some area of the world can connect us all as human beings. If you like plays that take a unique twist on classic story plots or plays that add instances of comic relief and the right amount of emotion, then I recommend this play to you. 3y
