A brilliant and accurate description of boys growing up in suburban Australia. There was some humour, some suspense but ultimately I didn't enjoy the ending. The reader was fantastic though.
A fast paced, addictive story with enough plot twists to keep you guessing until the end. I enjoyed the Melbourne setting, particularly the scenes in the inner west. I have to admit, I found the ending a bit silly but this is an entertaining, engaging read.
This was our bookclub book this month and i finished it with 2 days to spare. I really enjoyed it, especially because it was set in Melbourne and so i was familiar with a lot of the locales

This book is very Melbourne. The mum works in a pub I've eaten in several times. The setting/place names are very familiar. Cricket is familiar. Enjoying it. Might even finish it in time for book club

I read the first chapter of this book this morning so I can at least say that I started it when I go to book club.

Is this going to be my next book club fail? Maybe! Maybe not!

This book walloped me in a way I wasn't expecting. The style keeps you on your toes, the characters are wonderfully flawed, the writing is sharp and just so good. You don't need to like cricket to enjoy it, but you might need an Aussie to English dictionary for some parts. Full review will be on my blog as soon as I can form sentences again!
Imogen is at a friend's house till the morning, so I'm doing something I rarely do on my own - sitting at a cafe reading. Nice.
