Going with another reread today since the sequel is languishing on my shelf and third book is also out… I don‘t remember how I got my hands on an ARC but I remember enjoying it when I read it the first time. We‘ll see if it holds up.

I‘m trying to decide what I‘m feeling and if I‘ll get the next book in the series… this was completely different and I can‘t stop thinking about it and what will happen next… so many questions remain and how is this story going to continue… guess I answered my questions I will get the next book and see for myself … can‘t wait 😜
Have you ever… struggled to read a book … not because it was bad, your not in a reading slump, or don‘t have time… you find the book fascinating but you just don‘t read for a few days even though you really like the book 😞 … I really am enjoying this but for whatever reason reading is a struggle… my mom has been gone for 5yrs and I‘m still struggling
Stayed up a bit late to finish this. It was so suspenseful, I caught myself biting my nails. The world-building was fantastic, the action intense, and the characters extremely likable and sympathetic. It broke my heart many times over, then filled me with hope and joy, and then broke my heart again; a roller coaster! A world filled with magic by the way of songs, a living goddess, crazy mad-scientist alchemists, and awe-inspiring landscapes!
“He remembered a lesson taught to him once by his mother: Right your wrongs before they rightly wrong you.”
“Knowledge can often be its own reward, but more often it reveals the inner truths of the outer world. It can raise a lamp and lift the shadows around us to show us the beauty within.”
“Too often, words of wisdom are drowned out by the drumbeats of war.”
I kept seeing the sequel on the new release shelf at work and it intrigued me so I decided to take the plunge and start at the beginning. I really enjoyed the characters and the world building because even though it's not super tropey it felt comfortable. There is a fair bit of darkness in this fantasy though be warned.
#BookReport
Finished two books this week which were pretty good. One middle grade and one adult that felt like borderline NA.

I think I need to finally accept that I am terrible at sticking to reading plans because despite saying I needed to work on my two long standing current reads I started another book anyways. Goal is to finish at least one of these three this week.
I listened to this ARC. It‘s jam packed with action! I really enjoyed it. This was one of my Prime Day purchases 😁
Great book. Impressive world-building and Rollins, master of the thriller, created a plot that never slows.

I just did NOT feel connected to the story or the characters. I thought it was a great premise and parts of it made me gasp or laugh but when it finished I wasn't aching to read the next installment.
I like Rollins' action adventure series and I've liked other fantasy series in the past ( i.e. LOTR, long before the movies 😉) but I'm struggling with this.
This is honestly not something I would normally read but my friend who works at the local bookstore put it in my hand and said trust me. All righty then. I admit I did set it a side a few times to read books I‘d preordered not because it wasn‘t good. This is a dark fantasy built around the premise the earth has stopped spinning. Yeah that. Great characters and storyline. And my friend, Chris didn‘t lead me astray! #readingchallenge2022
Miss me? I‘m going to try to post more. This is my current read.

🎧 I‘ve only read Sigma Force so this was a surprise.
Can I call it a dark fantasy? The Earth has stopped spinning in a way that one half is always light, the other dark. The remains of humanity live in a reality that‘s harsh & unforgiving.

Rollins foray into fantasy is a success—he deftly weaves 4 POVs into a compelling story that left me wanting to know what happens next. A thief, a prince, a knight, a novice and another (can‘t be specific to avoid spoilers) all have a role to play as a world inches ever closer to war. Our relationship to nature/wildlife plays an interesting role in the story. If you enjoy fantasy, this is one to check out. On sale 1/22.
Such a busy week I haven‘t had much time to read much less post anything on Litsy. That changes now as I settle in for the weekend with a 500+ page fantasy from Rollins (most well known for writing thrillers). I‘ve seen this book on a number of “most anticipated” lists for 2022 and a few chapters in, I can see why. It definitely has my attention!
I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 349.

I‘ve been a fan of Rollins‘ writing for a long time and this action-packed re-entry to epic fantasy makes for a truly wonderful #audiobook experience! The characters all come to life and the magical creatures and twisting plot is breathlessly exciting! I loved Nyx - and all of her adopted brothers! I cried- there are some brutal surprises- but I also can‘t wait for the next installment! A great start to a new series! #AudioColoring
