Read the Malinda Lo story for #QueerBC, and some of the others. Lo's is a lighthearted “Roman Holiday“ plot in a not particularly different future. Kind of meh, honestly. I liked Mason Deaver's “boy band members ran away for the weekend and fall in love,“ and a love triangle story that ended, as so many readers hope they will, in a polyamorous relationship!
so-so~Warning~ I‘m writing this right after reading the last short story of the book which was a “the world is going to end at this exact time” book and those always stress me out so this is probably going to be a little biased.
This book was fine. A lot of the short story only vaguely included the tropes that they were supposed to be entirely based on, and some never connected at all. The short stories are not ordered alphabetically and the editors
I took this photo back in early January but forgot to post it. Today I was at this same park reading this same book and drinking an iced chai latte instead of a regular iced latte. Sadly no donut or ham n cheese croissant today, but damn was the weather gorgeous, and I got to see a lot of doggos, pet one especially friendly doggo, and read a refreshing take on the "love triangle" trope. ?

pickSuch a cute anthology of YA romance stories based on tropes like "only one bed" or "mistaken identity." Even better, almost all of the stories are queer. I loved pretty much all of the stories but some of my favorites were "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" by Malinda Lo, "Boys Noise" by Mason Deaver, "Unfortunately, Blobs Do Not Eat Snacks" by Rebecca Kim Wells, "What Makes Us Heroes" by Julian Winter, and "My Best Friend's Girl" by Sara Farizan.
Really enjoying this arc of a cute, tropey romance anthology and really glad my pup is back to 100% after eating a bag of macadamia nuts yesterday and getting some scary symptoms from macadamia nut toxicity
