I‘d be lying if I didn‘t say some of this was a little corny, but I appreciate what the author wanted to do for her character. I did find the ending to be anticlimactic, and it was disappointing in another way I can‘t expound upon, as I don‘t want to spoil the story. I just thought things were building up toward something different. I came to care about both Suzie and Emily, which made the abruptness of the conclusion rather jarring.

A widowed lady living in a flat where she can hear everything that goes on in your neighbours flat. Then one day you hear what sounds like an argument and she then goes missing. You are determined to help the police to find what has happened to her. Whilst it was a good read in that it held my interest, it wasn't exactly a page turner/ edge of my seat kind of read. From the synopsis I felt it could have been so much more suspenseful than it was.⭐⭐

The Girls Upstairs is an enjoyable mystery that is sure to entertain readers. Suzie is a relatable, and rather stubborn, character. I liked the little journeys into Emily‘s past; they allow the reader to see another side of her while simultaneously bringing some additional elements of mystery and suspense. It is a page-turner that kept me guessing up until the very end.⁣

I wasn‘t sure what to expect from this British thriller- but it captured my interest from start to finish! Suzie lives beneath Emily and she can hear almost everything that goes on above. While this leads to tension, it is Suzie who raises alarm when Emily hasn‘t been heard or seen-& soon it seems like she is the only one searching for the truth. Susie‘s own past is a bit slow to unfold but it adds to the intrigue as you can‘t help turning pages!
