I loved Wonder and when I saw this cover while shelving books at work recently, I just had to read it.
Pony is a heartfelt story of a young boy searching for his father who was taken by a band of outlaws. Silas is different from other young boys though because he sees spirits. On his journey to find his father he uncovers things about himself, and his family that will forever change his world.
I finished reading this to my 6th grade Lit Lunch today and they absolutely loved it! I'm annoyed with myself that I forgot to take a photo of them with the book like I usually do...
Silas and his father live alone. His father is a photographer. One night men come riding and take Silas‘s father thinking he is a notorious counterfeiter. Silas and his imaginary friend decide to go after Silas‘s father…..the story takes you on a ride from here. From the author of Wonder, another good middle grade read. Set before the Civil war.
Almost Friday but still #thoughtfulthursday!

Everyone is invited!!
I bought this book yesterday. Normally I would just add it to my ever growing TBR pile, but it just called to me and I wanted to start reading it right away. One thing my Literacy class has encouraged me to do is to browse the children‘s section a bit more and I‘m glad I did. I already want to keep reading, but I have a project to work on for another class (building a 3D classroom 😬)
I loved this middle-grade novel so much! Palacio‘s first novel outside the “Wonder” verse was completely different and I might like it more.
This is the epic journey of Silas, a twelve-year-old boy in the 1860‘s who sets out to find his kidnapped father on the back of a bald-faced pony with only his friend and ghost, Mittenwool, for company. Silas is terrified of his journey, but the universe is connected in a beautiful way.
What a ride!! This was absolutely fantastic! Middle grade but with crossover/classic appeal. This historical novel of friendship and kinship will simultaneously devastate, enlighten, and enliven you. The world can be dark but there's so much hope in it.
