“I refuse to give in to the silence. This is one of the things about me, I think. I persist. I insist on speaking. And being heard.” Judy was only 5 the first time she was denied her right to go to school. She was paralyzed from polio and had to use a wheelchair. But her parent fought for her to go to school. Judy continued to fight for her civil rights. All the way to the capital and the White House. I had never heard Judy story before but 👇🏻

Lovesbooks87 👆🏻man it was a powerful story. I am so glad that Judy and so many other stood up for their civil rights and did everything in their power to get the Americans with Disabilities Act passed. I had no idea that it wasn‘t passed until 1990. We need to do better as a country! 3y
EKonrad You might want to check out the documentary called Crip Camp on Netflix. It tells her story and has really interesting footage. 😊 3y
Lovesbooks87 @EKonrad thanks for the heads up. I didn‘t know about it and will be watching it soon! 3y
