This was my #doublespin for Feb - rated it 3.5 stars. Not as genre bending as I wanted, and I guessed the twist. @TheAromaofBooks

This is a strange one. It‘s a good story and send up of a lot of corporate mumbo jumbo/initiatives. I think some of the characters might belong to a cult. 😄
If you liked Eleanor Oliphant then you‘d enjoy The Very Nice Box. I was expecting twists and twists I received, all very surprising and satisfying for a romance, mystery contemporary novel. Narrators voice 10/10 entertaining, would highly recommend especially if anyone is in a reading slump.
This is a gem! The quirky heroine, who works at an IKEA type of store, comforts herself with her strict routines and ongoing creation of the Very Nice Box. Then the arrival of a new store manager upends her life… Shades of “Eleanor Oliphant”, but I liked this even more. And what an ending! Shoutout to #TheNovelNeighbor bookstore and #CurrentlyReading podcast for putting this on my radar 😊❤️
DNF. Not surprising as this is a satire and that's not usually my thing. I also found it too slow paced. Not for me, but will definitely be for someone else! It is smart. (Queer and feminist too!)
Once more unto the breach (or, picking this one back up) while Gatsby sleeps.
I found introverted, socially anxious, female engineer Ava‘s emotional rollercoaster of grief, love, and loss mostly slow and tedious; but the surprise ending was sort of fun. Read my review here: https://debbybrauer.org/#the-very-nice-box
I‘m at my family‘s summer cottage so don‘t have access to my usual favorite mug but I enjoy this one when I‘m here. It‘s from a 1988 swim meet (I was a swimmer) our club was hosting that was interrupted by a tornado. Obviously it was produced after the meet and it always brings back good memories of that part of my life. @BennettBookworm #steamygiveaway
Very meh. At times I was pulled in by the events in the story, but the writing was too heavy-handed and I ultimately found the plot too hard to believe.
Two books for me, one for my #FallingForFallSwap @Avanders
