Throughout the book, we learn about various historical scientific events, the main one being the first landing on the moon. The story puts everything in simpler terms for children.

acassatta The ESOL strategy used in the classroom for this story would be #50 which deals with content comprehension since we are learning about some factual information. OliviaBuck I love how this can teach science but is also fiction, I feel this is a great option for students who don‘t like nonfiction, but they can still learn something from this! 4y

DrSpalding Sad but true I just saw that Michael Collins one of the astronauts that went to the moon in 1969, passed away today. The tribute to him was very touching! While this book is fictitious it is a valuable book for teaching science content. I could see this being paired with a nonfiction text about the lunar landing. 4y

This adorable SF picture book tells the tale in the moon‘s perspective. Moon wants to have visitors but has to wait a very long time till Apollo 11. The moon watches the humans on earth as they invent was to travel but still not visit the moon. This book has a lot of knowledge about space exploration, scientists, and inventors of of planet. This book would be great as a storytelling to share with students how we made it to the moon.
