That Sounds Fun
That Sounds Fun: The Joys of Being an Amateur, the Power of Falling in Love, and Why You Need a Hobby | Annie F. Downs
We know there are certain things we must have to survive--food, shelter, and safety to name a few. But there are also aspects of life that truly allow us to be joyful and fulfilled. For popular podcaster and bestselling author Annie F. Downs, fun is close to the top of that list. Few would argue that having fun doesn't enrich our lives, but so much gets in the way of prioritizing it. Tough days, busyness, and feelings that are hard to talk about keep us from the fun that's out there waiting to be found. With That Sounds Fun, Annie offers an irresistible invitation to understand the meaning of fun, to embrace it and chase it, and to figure out what, exactly, sounds fun to you--then do it! Exploring some research and sharing some thoughts behind why fun matters, she shows you how to find, experience, and multiply your fun. With her signature storytelling style and whimsical vulnerability, Annie is the friend we all need to guide us back to staying true to ourselves and finding the fun we need.

I always listen to Annie on audiobook. The narration is fabulous and I just love her. This one is really interesting, a whole book on fun. Hobbies, falling in love, and being an amateur. I loved it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Well, this was delightful. The author & I would be friends, I'm convinced. And she lives in Nashville, so who knows? ☺

This came in on my library holds & I can't remember who recommended I put it there. 😂 Anyone know this book or this podcast? (I'm a podcast junkie & she's based in Nashville, where I live, so you'd think I'd know her.) Has anyone talked of this book lately - Anne Bogel, Liberty, Ann Patchett, one of my #NashvilleLittens? Wish I could remember! 😂

This was, dare I say, a fun read. And a good reminder after this past year to look for the fun in life. 😎🙃

A few years back I established a fangirl bookclub for author Robin Jones Gunn. At one of our meetings Annie's name came up and told us she had interviewed RJG so we listened to the podcast only to find out our book club is referenced! Holy full-circle fangirl moment! Anyway, started following Annie on social media and grabbed this book, I want to be her friend. This hit so many wonderful marks for me, and my desire to be who others want. Love it!

Mehso-so

⭐️⭐️

I had high expectations of what this book would be! 🙁

It was a quick read, LOTS of narrative.

But for me, I think it lacked the depth I‘m used to in Annie‘s previous writing.

It was just kind of a “Meh! So what?” kind of read for me by the end and believe you me, I WANTED SO BAD TO LOVE IT!!

I guess this one didn‘t sound fun to me throughout!

🤷🏻‍♀️

When you stop picking your hobbies or making decisions based on what others tell you is worth your time and effort, and you start listening to your own heart and your own wants, life gets so much richer.
