pickMy granddaughter suggested this title. She did me proud. A middle school in a small CO town is shaken when a swastika is painted on a wall. The ugly symbol of hate stirs up fear, resentment and old secrets, but the students devise an audacious plan to honor and remember individuals lost in the Holocaust. I laughed a little and cried a little more. This pick is 4+ of 5 ⭐️for reminding me of the potential for all of us to make the world better.
Gordon Korman‘s books deliver unique story lines and typically told through multiple voices-appealing for all ages. He even weaves social issues into his highly entertaining plots. Tagged book was favorite of these three, but have read many more of his previously. #MiddleGradeMarch
pickAlthough as an adult, a few minor details didn‘t quite work for me, this is a great #MiddleGrade story that addresses the Holocaust, the KKK, family history, social media influences, middle school choices, and second chances. Gordon Korman makes all of it work in an interesting and mostly realistic way.
