bailed
HARD pass. 🤮
Four pages into my #bookspin book, and I'm out. I literally felt like throwing up by page two. I bought this on a whim at Barnes and Noble not really knowing anything about it. Dropping it in the donate box.
@TheAromaofBooks would it be alright if I subbed another book for my bookspin number? I just can't with this one and I don't want a bail book on my bingo.
GingerAntics Just read the description, it sounds dysfunctional to the extreme!!! Stockholm Syndrome anyone? I seriously wish authors would stop using these abusive situations as “sexy” or to further their plots. Ugh. I don‘t blame you for bailing. 3y
Traci1 @GingerAntics idk about the rest of the book since I stopped on page 4, but it's told from the man's perspective and he's raped a woman, and thanked her for it, by then. I should definitely start reading the blurbs of books before I buy them. 3y
Clare-Dragonfly If I didn‘t put bails on my bingo board I‘d have a very hard time picking books for my list! 😆 I know @TheAromaofBooks has said that a bail counts for the #bookspin giveaway, as long as you gave it a shot. 3y

GingerAntics @Traci1 sometimes you see a book at the store and it looks so interesting you have to bring it home, though. I probably would have been intrigued by that cover. The Litsy blurb was enough to put an end to that, though. 3y
Traci1 @Clare-Dragonfly yeah, that's true. I know it's about moving books off the tbr, one way or another. I definitely set a personal record with this one though. I always give it at least 30 or 40 pages before I give up. But I can't give any more brain space to this one. 3y
TheAromaofBooks Bails totally count for your #BookSpin credit because that book is DEFINITELY off the TBR!!! 😂 @Clare-Dragonfly is correct on that one. And honestly, from the GR blurb, this doesn't sound that bad, so I can see buying it based on that blurb - it does say she gets kidnapped & that he's “determined to possess her“ but definitely doesn't say anything about rape or forced sexual encounters, so I can see that coming as an unwelcome surprise! 3y
Traci1 @TheAromaofBooks yeah, I can handle most subjects, but being inside the head of a rapist, and then knowing they're meant to be the "romantic" hero of the tale isn't something I want to do. I almost want to hope there was something lost in translation, but I think that's probably wishful thinking. ?♀️ 3y
