I‘ve heard a lot of good things about this novella and it did not disappoint. What an odd and wonderful little book.

Just as good the second time around!
If you haven‘t read these yet Sarah Gailey‘s blurb from the back covers says it all. "This is a book that, for one night, made me stop asking, 'What am I even for?' I'm prescribing a preorder to anyone who has ever felt lost. Stunning, kind, necessary.”
My plan to stay in bed with these all day may have only half cured my migraine, so it‘ll probably be back with a vengeance tomorrow, but it ? cured my mood.
It still gets me when I see a Jenny review. 😩
This was an okay read for me. Any book I read after reading Hello Beautiful was going to have a hard time breaking through to me. So I‘ll let Jenny offer her thoughts instead.
Loving these questions again! #ihavequestions @RaeLovesToRead
1. I read the Monk & Robot duology last month & adored it! I‘ve seen it classified as solarpunk, but until that becomes more of a genre in its own right I‘m thinking they count as a hybrid of sci-fi and 10 other things.
2. Last year I read several Feminist Dystopian Westerns & would love to read more!
3. Christian Fiction/Splatterpunk Horror 🤔 maybe a morality tale gone very wrong?
My first foray into the solarpunk genre was a success!I started this novella on audio earlier today and just couldn‘t stop listening. I see why this one gets so much love, and I‘m excited to read the second half of the duology. This has been on my radar for a while now, so I really appreciate @SueK putting it on my #AuldLangSpine list and encouraging me to give it a try. @monalyisha #Pantone2022 #Macchiato @Clwojick
"My name is Mosscap", it said, sticking out a metal hand. "What do you need, and how might I help?" -- I expected to love this and then I DID ☕?
A quiet, thoughtful, contemplative read about purpose, identity, nature, and productivity that‘s also inclusive. Really liked Dex and Mosscap and look forward to seeing more of them. Preordered the sequel.
Thank you @rsteve388 for the fanastic #SSS package! I look forward to reading these books. The caramels are soooooooo delicious! I love the candles and socks. I love it all! 😊

Without constructs, you will unravel few mysteries. Without knowledge of the mysteries, your constructs will fail. These pursuits are what make us, but without comfort, you will lack the strength to sustain either. Find the strength to do both.
A lovely, thoughtful little sci-fi story.
It's a low-action, low-drama story about the friendship between a robot and a human monk experiencing a crisis of purpose. It's what you expect from Becky Chambers: low-action, low-drama, nice people behaving nicely. I've never been a fan of Chambers's work, but it may be growing on me. In this case I found the principals' friendship charming, and will probably read the next.
Reading hammock buddy! This is Thor, destroyer of worlds (and the occasional library book). 🥰
My hold came in!! The blurbs on this book are 🔥🔥🔥so I‘m really excited!

Is sci-fi futuristic cozies a genre? This new book by Becky Chambers is so sweet with lovable characters and an interesting premise.
What if robots had long ago revolted and chose to live serenely in nature? What if a job of the future is offering small comforts like a free cup of tea and listening to strangers? Just a nice read cover to cover. I can‘t wait for the next book in the series!
This quick read introduces a new post-robot sentience world with a new religious and political system. I loved the monk and robot characters and I hope we see them again. I'll leave the rest to be discovered by the reader!
So excited for Becky Chamber‘s new solarpunk novel! Just got this email about three free virtual chats she‘s having with some other big names in sci-fi/fantasy:
🤖w/Martha Wells! - Tu, July 13, at 7 pm ET
✨w/Sarah Gailey! - Th, July 15, at 10 pm ET
🏝w/T.J. Klune, and Alix E. Harrow! - Fri, July 16th, at 7 pm ET
If you want to do things that are meaningful to others, fine! Good! So do I! But if I wanted to crawl into a cave and watch stalagmites with Frostfrog for the remainder of my days, that would also be both fine and good. You keep asking why your work is not enough, and I don‘t know how to answer that, because it is enough to exist in this world and marvel at it. You don‘t need to justify that, or earn it. You are allowed to just live. #ARC
Another right book at the right time situation. A young monk, Dex, decides to leave the City & become a tea monk-something between bartender & itinerant therapist. When they lose their sense of purpose & venture into the actual Wild, they meet a robot. Since the era that robots left for the wild, they‘d become almost legendary. Mosscap has come to ask “What do humans want?”- a question Dex doesn‘t feel qualified to answer. ⬇️ #ARC
